Laboratory

Our sophisticated in house laboratory applies conventional physical and chemical analysis methods. These methods combine with Atomic Absorption Spectropy allows fast and accurate assay.

Analysts are qualified and trained to handle each lot of sample preparation through to final assay.

Fire Assay

Fire Assay is used to obtain the accurate results required by both the customer and the refinery. This universally accepted technique combines careful sampling, preparation, controlled cupellation and precision weighing to produce the most accurate results.

This method can be accurate on Gold metal to 1 part in 10,000. By performing on materials using fusion followed by cupellation separation, detection may be in parts per billion. Although time consuming, Fire Assay is the most widely accepted standard applied for valuing high gold content materials as well as gold and silver bullion.

SPM Refinery is the only laboratory in Singapore that is using this method for testing of precious metal in both high grade gold Scrap and low grade electronics waste material.

Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)

AAS is a spectro analytical procedure for the qualitative and quantitative determination of chemical elements employing the absorption of optical radiation (light) by free atoms in the gaseous state. In analytical chemistry the technique is used for determining the concentration of a particular element in a sample to be analyzed. AAS can be used to determine over 70 different elements in solution or directly in solid samples.

SPM Refinery uses this analysis method to safe guard the quality of our precious metal product so as to meet the most stringent standard.
